New Videos on my website

You have got to see these video interviews of a recent workshop. You can clearly see the differences in the types of people in how they were recruited into their network marketing company, how they approach being trained, and what approaches capture their interest. Enjoy! Go to www.networkingtypes.com

What does it take to adapt?

My book has an interesting graphic in it. It shows various shade of gray as a person's type becomes less defined and more broad. I have seen many exceptionally talented people in the network marketing business who do not easily fit into a particular box but have adapted their personal style so that they can reach a broader range of people.

What would it be like to be able to recruit and retain both the literal, detailed oriented people, the sweet but unassertive caring people and the strong, outgoing, make it happen people? At what point would a person become ineffective because they are so adaptive they lose their own sense of integrity and self? These are the critical questions we need to ask ourselves.

Clearly Leadership skills depend on the ability to adapt, but also on the ability to recognize our own strengths and capitalize on them to build our teams.

Who are you being today? Are you coming from a position of strength without rigidity? Or, are you vascillating to accommodate someone who you want in your group?

Recently I listened to a talk by author Bob Burg. I loved what he said about 'posture'. Posture is how you are perceived, in terms of neediness when talking to a prospect. The more prospects you have, the greater your posture because you don't need any particular one for your success. So, having the ability to adapt to the styles of others while retaining our own type and orientation is what will win out in the end for everyone concerned.

Let's go make a new friend today in light of these ideas.

Upcoming Workshops

I am so excited about my upcoming workshops for network marketers. One of the most fulfilling and fun things anyone can do is learn how to interact with other people and become flexible in their presentation skills. This workshop will be full of tips on how to be effective when talking to your favorite Captain, Professor, Angel, or Entertainer and helping them see the benefit of joining your company.

Join me Saturday, April 26 in Hamilton, Ontario or May 17 in North Carolina for some great fun that will move you to the next level.

Which type likes following a system?

There is quite a bit of buzz out there these days regarding a recruiting and retaining system that people can follow. Some people just love having one and others like the idea of lots of options and can't see how having a system to follow would benefit their business.

Why?

Well, the more Indirect a person is, the more they want externally imposed structure. You will notice that the Thinking Professor and the Relating Angel like detail. The more Direct types, the Captain and the Entertainer, have a greater sense of self reliance and are more prone to doing their own thing. The Captain want to have everyone follow him and will direct a system and the Entertainer thinks that talking and schmoozing with people is so easy, they can't understand why anyone would even need a system.

"After all," they think, "people just sign themselves up. What's the big deal?"

So, if you are of the opinion that a system is valid and a company should have one that they follow and not have numerous options, then you are probably not an Entertainer.

I have been following the Creating Our Futures system's development over the past six months and can see how simple it is to follow, once a person is willing to learn it. The inception of anything requires effort to learn. Once you learn it, then you can teach it, which is the basic precept of network marketing--Teach to Teach to Teach.

If you have people in your group who are not interested in following a system, don't try to force them into it. Find the ones that will follow you, instead.

I recently heard a terrific analogy for this: Think of a mother duck and the baby ducks. You will never see that mother duck looking around and chasing her babies. If the babies want to survive, they are going to follow the mother. That's it!

Remember---be the Leader YOU would follow.

Getting Ready for the Big Event

Just a few more days until our big convention -- Mannafest. I can't wait to see all the different types of people there. Of course, on stage we will see most Entertainers and the occasional Captain.

My husband will put on his Entertainer Hat as emcee and dance around, entertaining everyone. Sam, who I think is a Thinking Entertainer, will stand on stage and use his amazing eye contact skills to make everyone in the audience feel he is looking right at them.

Who do you think wears the different hats?

Is Terry a Professor like Dr. Boyd?

Is Captain Don P. going to tell you how to get the results you want quickly, if you do what he tells you?

Will you run into a myraid of Angels who care deeply and want to catch up?

Well, I for one am very excited. I will be handing out a postcard about the book and my workshop, so I will have a great way to meet new people and interact during breaks and meals.

See you there!

Welcome to my blog

Why You Need to Read my Blog

I just love personality typing. I see it everywhere, in every interaction. In fact, the more I learn about behavior typing the more I am able to be relaxed and accept people as they are when I relate to them. Every time I do a workshop and watch people understand how they can become more effective in their communications and relationships, the more fulfilled I become. This science is very simple, but has taken me most of my adult life to truly understand.

The beauty of it is that no matter whether you are just learning about who you are being in the world and in your business, or if you are well versed, this is a fascinating subject.

The purpose of this blog is for people who love networking marketing to share how they are using their understanding of the 4 Core Personality Types in their businesses.

Please stay tuned and participate in this blog. I can't wait to get to know you better!

Love,

Carol
